If you are booking a course for one person, use the “Individual” option. The “Group” option will allow you to purchase multiple licences and assign you as the Group Leader. If choosing the “Group” option, please indicate the number of licences you require, whether you are also enrolling in the course, and the name you would like for your new Group. Following the purchase, you will be able to enrol your delegates at your convenience via your Group Leader account.
Group Leaders can enrol delegates and review their progress, but themselves will not be automatically enrolled onto the course. If you wish to be enrolled in the course, please select “Enrol Me”. This will count as one of your licences.

Course Description:
This On-Demand training course from Aurora is designed to give an awareness of the health and safety aspects relating to work with ionising radiation to radiation workers. This could be work with radiation which is electrically generated, like x-rays or in particle accelerators, or radioactive material emitting alpha, beta, gamma or neutron radiation, whether that be in the form of sealed or unsealed sources.
The course gives an awareness of the risks to health created by exposure to ionising radiation, the general radiation protection procedures and precautions which should be taken in connection with work with ionising radiation, and the importance of complying with the relevant legislation, most notably the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. The course is split into a number of modules each with its own associated quiz.
Topics include: why radiation protection is important; what ionising radiation is; what the roles and responsibilities are within radiation protection; the biological effects of ionising radiation and perspective on this topic; how we can reduce our radiation dose; an awareness of the relevant legislation; and the measurement of ionising radiation by the use of hand held instruments or personal dosimetry.
You can take as much time as you need (log out and log back in at any time and continue where you left off), and once you have completed all the quizzes you will be able to download your certificate. It should be noted that this course is for general awareness and is not a radiation protection supervisor (RPS) course (which requires further depth of knowledge) and does not include detail on technical procedures specific to individual organisations.
